Hear Simone Biles discuss the feelings she experienced on her comeback to gymnastics and watch highlights from her uneven bars
Simone Biles will have the highest start value in the event if she performs the Yurchenko double pike vault at the next world championships next month.
To back up what USA Gymnastics' Chellsie Memmel and Biles said earlier in the week, an official with the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) .
The current highest value, shared by the Produnova and Biles's previous eponymous vault, is a 6.0.
The highest-scoring vault from the 2017 World Championships was a 5.6.
Memmel and Biles were taken aback by the FIG's 6.4 for the Yurchenko double pike, which they believed should have been valued in the 6s.
The FIG granted the Yurchenko double pike a tentative (but not final) rating of 6.6 during the Olympic cycle in which Biles first performed it at home (spring 2021).
Biles thought at the time that it deserved a 6.8 to set it out from the scores of other, less challenging vaults.
