According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Slowik signed with the Texans this week to be their offensive coordinator next season
The contract, which included a large rise, came after Slowik met with several other teams for head coaching vacancies in recent weeks.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Texans quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson will return next season. Johnson was a candidate for offensive coordinator.
Slowik and head coach DeMeco Ryans joined the Texans last summer after coordinating the 49ers' passing game. They spent six seasons together on the 49ers' staff before relocating to Houston.
Texans star Slowik, 36, helped turn the franchise around this season. He helped the squad reach the playoffs for the first time since 2019 by finishing 12th in total yards and 13th in points scored.
In a remarkable first year, C.J. Stroud passed for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns with five interceptions, working well with Slowik.
After the Texans were eliminated, the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, and Washington Commanders showed interest in Slowik
With all except the Commanders and Seahawks roles filled, Slowik will return to Houston for another season. Slowik is poised to grow in Houston while being a possibility for head coaching next year.
